Kitty Cat Chauffeurs
Location
Suffolk, Essex, Buckinghamshire, Cambridge, Newmarket
Overview
Are you a cat lover with a car and a little spare time? Do you enjoy helping animals and being part of a team that makes a real difference? We’re looking for reliable, caring volunteers to help transport cats between vets, foster homes, and their next safe place.
This role is incredibly important - without transport, many of the cats we help wouldn’t be able to get to the veterinary care, safety, and loving foster homes they need.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Kitty Cat Chauffeur, you’ll be the link that helps our rescue run smoothly. Tasks include:
- Transporting cats to and from veterinary appointments – for neutering appointments these will need an early drop-off at the vets in Halstead from 8am; and pick-ups any time from 3pm – 6pm
- Taking cats to and from foster carers
- Picking up cats being surrendered by owners and bringing them safely to their foster homes
- Occasionally helping with other early morning or evening journeys when appointments require it
Every journey you make helps a cat move one step closer to safety, recovery, or a forever home.
What We’re Looking For
We’d love to hear from people who are:
- Kind, patient, and passionate about animal welfare
- Reliable and good at communicating with the rescue team
- Comfortable handling cat carriers and transporting animals safely
- Flexible with occasional early mornings or late evenings
- Owners of a reliable car and valid driving licence
As we’re based in the North Essex/East Anglia area, we would only be able to consider people around this locality.
No special experience is required - just a love of cats and a willingness to help.
What We Provide
- All transport costs covered (we pay 45p per mile for petrol and 7p per mile for electric vehicles)
- Full support from the rescue team
- The chance to play a vital role in saving and improving cats’ lives
- Plenty of gratitude from humans… with a promise of a regular sing-along from your furry felines and just the occasional judgmental cat stare!
Why It Matters
Transport might seem like a small task, but it’s one of the most important parts of rescue work. A single journey can mean a cat gets urgent medical care, escapes a difficult situation, or reaches the foster home that will change their life.
If you have a car, a bit of time, and a big heart for cats, we’d love you on the team.
