Overview

We’re a small but growing registered cat rescue charity, and as our work expands, so does the number of people reaching out for help.

We’re looking for a compassionate, organised Volunteer Intake Manager to be the calm, kind voice at the start of each rescue journey.

This is a vital behind-the-scenes role that quite literally helps save the lives of cats and kittens in need.

Who we are

Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome cats in need, through supporting our network of wonderful volunteers and invaluable foster carers; and providing complete transparency to potential adopters throughout the adoption process.

We’re a registered charity wholly funded by kind donations and every penny we receive plays a crucial role in improving the lives of cats in need.

Since June 2025 we have rehomed 80 cats and we are currently supporting 20 cats in foster homes, all looking for new homes

And there’s so much more to do!

What we need from you

You’ll be the first point of contact for people asking us to help abandoned, stray, and unwanted cats and kittens.

That means you’ll:

  • Respond to enquiries via email, phone, and social media
  • Gather key information about each cat (age, health, behaviour, urgency, location)
  • Provide compassionate support and guidance to individuals seeking to rehome a cat
  • Assess requests in line with our rescue capacity and policies
  • Prioritise urgent welfare cases
  • Support home-from-home adoptions – assessing the situation and deciding whether the cat needs to come into urgent foster or can stay in their current home whilst looking for a new one
  • Liaise with vet practices and other rescues to help cats in need
  • Liaise with our teams to arrange safe admissions
  • Offer kind, practical guidance when we’re full (this can be the hardest part)
  • Help ensure surrender paperwork is completed properly
  • Keep clear, accurate intake records
  • Liaise with the Catitutde team if a cat or kittens need help with trapping

You’ll be making thoughtful decisions every day that directly impact cats in need.

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Compassionate but able to set boundaries
  • Able to make tough decisions diplomatically and ethically
  • Calm under pressure, resilient with the ability to handle emotionally challenging situations
  • Organised and detail-focused
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Confident communicating with the public in sensitive situations
  • Comfortable using email, spreadsheets, and social media
  • Understands cat behaviour, health and welfare
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Passionate about cat welfare

Previous experience in animal rescue, customer service, social work or related fields is preferred but not essential.

Benefits

Like every role in our charity, this is an unpaid voluntary position — but the difference you’ll make is priceless.  You’ll be a central part of a passionate, supportive team working every day to change the lives of cats in crisis.

You’ll play a key role in a growing registered charity; get hands-on experience in animal welfare operations; have an opportunity to make a real, measurable difference and most importantly, be part of a supportive, cat-obsessed volunteer team who truly care.
